100 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine ENERGY, ENGINEERING AND MANUFACTURING J ames Simms is one of the 2 percent of World War II veterans still alive. He was in the Navy taking back Guam from Japan. After the war, he entered the University of Oklahoma and earned a degree in physics in 1950. He started work with the Martin Company in the new area of guided missiles. He worked as a guidance and systems engineer on air to air, surface to air and inter-continental ballistic missiles (ICBMs). With an understanding of the fragility of civilization with nuclear warheads, he sought in his spare time to develop a quantitative living system science as a means of negating nuclear warfare and the destruction of civilization. During this spare time, he wrote three books with a fourth book premiering within the next two years to develop a quantitative living system science. His published books are titled “A Measure of Knowledge,” “The Limits of Behavior: A Quantitative Social Theory” and “Principles of Quantitative Living Systems Science.” He served Booz Allen Hamilton as a senior associate, General Electric as a program manager, Systems Research Corporation as a director of operations and program manager, ITT Intelcom as a senior technology staff member and Fairchild Aircraft as the head of Electronics and Systems Department. Supported by decades of experience in physics and engineering, he founded Simms Industries, Inc., in 1983, where he developed computer based training centers and weapon systems. He retired from his role as president in 1997. An affiliate of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and International Society of Systems Science, Mr. Simms is also a member of the Cherokee Nation and was recognized as a Cherokee Warrior in 2015. He is a patent holder and inventor of a mobile security system and co- invented a missile guidance system. Civically involved, he served as county coordinator for the election of Congresswoman Beverly Byron and also sat on the board of directors of the Southern Howard County Democratic Club. Mr. Simms obtained his pilot’s license at the age 60 and was flying his own plane on his 91st birthday. He owned single and twin engine aircrafts which he enjoyed flying around the U.S. JAMES R.
