78 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine S upported by over 40 years of experience in academia, Lyn Dutson is a respected theatre educator who taught at Mesa Community College from 1969 until attaining emeritus status in 2010. Commencing her career at her alma mater, Arizona State University, as a lecturer in 1967, she became interested in theatre arts during her formative years. Delving into theatre, costumes, history, and directing as a young girl, she subsequently attended Arizona State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts in 1966 and 1969, respectively. To remain abreast of developments in the industry, Ms. Dutson maintains affiliation with the U.S. Institute for Theatre Technology and the Costume Society of America. Civically involved, she is engagedwith the Southern Poverty Law Center, Common Cause, and the American Civil Liberties Union. As a testament to her profound success in the field, she was inducted into the Mesa Community College Hall of Fame, and was honored with a Faculty Service Award in 2007. The recipient of the Arizona Theatre Alliance Award in 2000, she additionally received the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. Curtis is a celebrated physical education teacher who taught at Abilene Christian University for 45 years. Demonstrating a passion for learning and exploring a range of sports from a young age, she decided to delve into physical education and health, receiving a BS in 1959 and MS in physical education in 1960 from the University of North Texas. A decade later, she earned a doctorate in physical education from Indiana University, where she served as a graduate assistant. A past treasurer of the Association for Intercollegiate Athletics for Women, Dr. Curtis has enjoyed several aspects of her career. Among her notable achievements, she is most proud of publishing “Pickle-Ball for Player and Teacher” in 1985, which entered its third edition in 1999. She was also successful in leading a co-ed badminton team to tournaments throughout Texas and Oklahoma for the women’s recreation association at Abilene Christian University and developing numerous basketball and volleyball teams. As a testament to her achievements, Dr. Curtis was the recipient of two Pathfinder Awards, as well as scholarly and athletic accolades. She was inducted into the Sports Hall of Fame at Abilene Christian University in 2003.
