83 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine A distinguished professor in the department of materials science and engineering at the University of California Davis since 2011, Dr. Subhash Mahajan has also served as a professor of electronic materials at Arizona State University since 1997. He served Arizona State University in multiple capacities, including as a regents professor, department chairman of chemical and materials engineering, and director of the School of Materials Science, as well as Carnegie Mellon University earlier in his career. Citing his tenures at AT&T Bell Laboratories and the Atomic Energy Research Establishment in Harwell, England, as highlights of his career, he is grateful to have been afforded opportunities to conduct research that was ahead of most other organizations. To share his breadth of knowledge, he has authored, co-authored, edited and co-edited myriad articles and books and is a fellow of the Indian National Academy of Engineering. The recipient of numerous achievement, education and alumnus awards, Dr. Mahajan holds a BS from Panjab University, a BE in metallurgy from the Indian Institute of Science and a PhD in materials science and engineering from the University of California Berkeley. He is currently conducting research on magnesium alloys and materials for light wave communications. DISTINGUISHED PROFESSOR OF MATERIALS SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING University of California Davis Davis, CA D rawing upon a BS from the University of Arizona and a PhD from Oregon State University, Dr. Melinda Jane Korshet is a respected animal science educator who taught at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, for over 25 years. Commencing her tenure as an assistant professor in 1976, she ascended the ranks to full professor and also served as the coordinator of graduate studies in the College of Agriculture from 1997 to 2004. Prior to these appointments, she was a laboratory technician at Bio-Test Inc. in Northbrook, Illinois, in 1969 and teaching assistant at Oregon State University from 1970 to 1974. She also briefly acted as a research fellow while completing postdoctoral coursework at the University of Minnesota. A certified professional animal scientist in genetics and breeding, Dr. Korshet has been interested in genetics from a young age. She was a fellow of Women in Development for USAID in 1984, chairperson of the California Animal Nutrition Conference in 2003 and member of the Southern California chapter of the Richard III Society. In light of her outstanding accomplishments in animal science and academia, she was honored with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award in 2019.
