173 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine H aving been interested in science from an early age, Huixing Yang is a prominent research scientist who most recently served the University of Texas at Austin from 1998 until his retirement from the industry in 2005. Prior to this appointment, he was employed with the university in multiple capacities, serving as a research associate from 1993 to 1998 and a research fellow from 1990 to 1993. A native of Hui’an, China, he was previously a teaching assistant, lecturer and associate professor with Beijing University, now known as Peking University, between 1960 and 1990. He immigrated to the United States in 1990 and settled in the heartland of Texas. The recipient of a BS from Peking University, Mr. Yang was a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Delaware from 1981 to 1982. He is renowned for his research in experimental and theoretical chemical kinetic studies in high temperature, as well as his investigations of surface science using the kinetic networks method for the estimation of catalytic activity. Notably, he was the first person in China to work with high-temperature kinetics. During his career, Mr. Yang served on the editorial committee of the Chinese Journal of Chemistry from 1989 to 1993 and the editorial committee of Acta Chimica Sinica from 1983 to 1993. He has also written numerous articles appearing in professional journals. In recognition of his immense success, he was honored with an Award for Contributions to Chemical Kinetics from Peking University in 1992. He was also highlighted in several editions of Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in Science and Engineering, and Who’s Who in the World.
