224 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine D esiring to help people from a young age, Dr. Dan R. Cimponeriu was also interested in the sciences and decided to enter the field of medicine. Earning an MD from Carol Davila University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Bucharest, Romania, in 1985, he subsequently served in a private practice for the following decade. Since 1995, Dr. Cimponeriu has been the president of Greater New York Gastroenterology, where he practices medicine specializing in gastroenterology. During his tenure with the practice, he also served as associate chief of medicine and assistant gastrointestinal chief at the Catholic Medical Center between 1995 and 1999. A contributor of many articles to esteemed journals, Dr. Cimponeriu attributes his success to his hard-working nature and perseverance. He notes that the highlights of his career have always been having the opportunities to take care of patients in the communities in which he grew up. Priding himself on his reliability, he wishes to be known as a steadfast practitioner of medicine, always practicing in the best interest of his patients. Among the notable influencers in his life, Dr. Cimponeriu was mentored significantly by gastroenterologist Dr. Buganza of the Catholic Medical Center. Going beyond the realm of medicine, Dr. Buganza discussed life with patients and colleagues, as well as medicine and academics. He served as a role model to Dr. Cimponeriu, who thus went on to emulate Dr. Buganza’s passion. Married with two wonderful children, Dr. Cimponeriu enjoys skiing, playing tennis, listening to music and hiking in his spare time. He also loves to travel and frequently visits Switzerland. He has been a frequent volunteer for set- up programs for the Catholic Medical Center. DAN R.
