247 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine followed that path and accepted her first job with the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) as a staff writer after she graduated with her Bachelor of Arts in English literature in 1972. In 1982, Ms. Myers went back to George Mason and acquired her Master of Arts in English literature. Ms. Myers held multiple positions with the ASAE until she moved to the Electronic Retail Association in 1997. She served as president and chief executive officer until 2003. From there, her career took a new turn, and in 2013, she became the president and chief executive officer of Partnership for Prevention. In 2015, she became the executive director of the Academy for Eating Disorders. She is also the director of the Licensing Executives Society of U.S. and Canada. Recently, Ms. Myers spent two weeks in Mumbai and Singapore working with more than 1,200 physicians in seven hospitals teaching them about eating disorders. She is passionate about educating others on eating disorders, and thanks her college professor and mentor Dr. Zen for giving her the initial confidence she needed to excel in her career, and life as a whole. A proud moment of Ms. Myers’ career was being named the First International Association Visionary by Marketing Challenges International and being honored for a Lifetime of Service by the Ravensworth Civic Association. Additionally, Ms. Myers has been a member of the Universal Postal Union Advisory Group for almost 20 years. However, Ms. Myers notes the highlight of her career was getting off the corporate wheel to take care of her mother. She spent a significant amount of time with her and her mother’s friends and wrote a book about them titled “Tales of the Bingo Ladies.” Ms. Myers is also a published author and columnist, as well as the proud mother of one daughter. A t the start of her college years, Elissa Myers, CAE, kept her options open about her career path. She knew she had a passion for writing, but she also really enjoyed being the lead singer in her rock ‘n’ roll band.
