20 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine B ill Anderson was inspired to pursue a career in the arts due to the influence of his grandfather, Oscar H. Anderson, a noted artist. Drawing upon a Bachelor of Science from Minnesota State University, Mankato, he commenced his career in 1963 as an art teacher at the Long Beach Unified School District, holding the position for five years. He subsequently served in the same role at such schools as Appleton West High School, the Anaheim Union High School District, the Los Alamitos Unified School District, the Orange County School of the Arts and East Los Angeles College, where he was a muralist. Since 1994, Mr. Anderson has been the accomplished owner of the Bill Anderson Art Gallery. During his tenure in art education, Mr. Anderson has exhibited his artwork at several galleries and museums. The artist of a one-man show at Galleria Coyoacan in Mexico City in 1981, he has since displayed his art at the University of California Los Angeles, the National Museum of Watercolor in Mexico City, the Huntington Beach Art Center, the Vincent Price Art Museum and the Chaffey Community Museum of Art. A prolific author, Mr. Anderson has penned such books as “Huntington Beach: Surf City” in 2018, “Sunset Beach: Through the Eyes of Artist Bill Anderson” in 2017, “The Fantastic Horse: Through the Eyes of Artist Bill Anderson” in 2016 and “The Female Form: Through the Eyes of Artist Bill Anderson” in 2016. The former president and longtime member of the Allied Arts Board of the City of Huntington Beach, California, from 1979 to 1991, Mr. Anderson has accrued numerous accolades. He was named Outstanding Teacher of the Year by Anaheim Union High School District in 1975 and 1977 and Outstanding Artist of the Year by the City of Huntington Beach in 1986. A celebrated Marquis listee, he was selected for inclusion in Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in American Education and Who’s Who in American Art. Happily married to his wife Ausma Edite Leipins since 1962, Mr. Anderson is the proud father of two children, Kerri and Craig, and four grandchildren: Zoie, Alexandra, Jordyn and Ryan.
