28 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine J ohn C. Fullam, former Principal Clarinetist of the Buffalo Philharmonic, was born in NewYork and holds Bachelor andMaster of Music degrees from the Juilliard School, where he was a scholarship student of Joseph Allard, Principal Clarinetist of the Juilliard Concert Orchestra and soloist with the Juilliard Chamber Orchestra. Mr. Fullam has appeared at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center, the Marlboro Festival, the Tanglewood Festival, the Round Top Festival, the Amalfi Coast Festival and the Pierre Monteux Domaine, and has performed as a soloist at Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall and with the London Festival Ballet. Mr. Fullam is a winner of the international competition for the Principal Clarinet chair of the International Symphony of Venice. He is also a winner of the U.S. National Arts Club Award, the Bergen Philharmonic Concerto Competition, the Diploma D’Honore from the Italian government, the CD Jackson Master Award, the U.S. Components Inc. Fellowship Grant, and was selected as a soloist for the Berkshire Festival of Contemporary Music. He also played the CoplandClarinet Concertowith theNational Orchestral Association Orchestra under the composer’s direction. Mr. Fullam is a featured soloist with theBuffaloPhilharmonic and theAmberg Chamber Ensemble on their release of “City of Light” for the MarkMasters Label, which includes the major works for clarinet by distinguished American composer Persis Parshall Vehar, and the live 2007 premiere performance of the “City of Light” Concerto, dedicated to Mr. Fullam. He can also be heard on the Marlboro Recording Society Series, the Naxos, Pro Arte, Beau Fleuvre and Mode labels, and has appeared on National Public Radio & Television in the U.S., South America and Radio Hong Kong. As a professor of clarinet, Mr. Fullam has taught for the Eastman School, the Philharmonic Conservatory of Caracas, Atlantic Union College, the University of Utah and the Boston Conservatory, where he was also Director of Chamber Music.He iscurrentlyamemberof theFloridaGulf CoastMusiciansAssociation and enjoys performing with the Sarasota and Orlando Symphonies, and the Lakeside Chamber Players. He resides in Sarasota, Florida, with his wife Lois, a real estate agent, and they enjoy traveling together. JOHN C.
