337 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine I nspired to pursue his career path by his high school chemistry teacher and his grandfather John Williams Swindell, who was a physician, Dr. Swindell is a prominent biomedical researcher who formerly worked for the pharmaceutical giant Pfizer, Inc., for 25 years between 1970 and 1995. Attaining a number of roles in biochemistry, pharmacology and statistics, he thoroughly enjoyed his tenure with the company. Since 1995, he has served as a statistical consultant. During his tenure, he has contributed articles on cholesterol metabolism, hormone action, cell culture, actions of drugs and data analysis to professional journals. Notably, he is a patentee for several anti-atherosclerosis agents. Drawing upon a Bachelor of Science in chemistry from Southern Methodist University, and Master of Science in nutritional science and PhD in biochemistry from Cornell University, he served a two-year postdoctoral fellowship in lipid metabolism at Duke University Medical Center. Dr. Swindell later on pursued coursework in statistics at Yale University in the early 1990s. He formerly served in the U.S. Army from 1958 to 1961 and has been active in several elective community governing bodies, including the Town Council and Representative Town Meeting of Groton, Connecticut, the Groton Board of Education and LEARN. A member of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, American Statistical Association, American Heart Association and the Mathematical Association of America, Dr. Swindell also maintains affiliation with Sigma Xi. Enjoying nature photography and botany in his spare time, he is also associated with the Connecticut Botanical Society. In light of his lifelong experiences, he is in the process of writing and publishing an autobiography. As a testament to his success, Dr. Swindell received the Jacqueline B. Nixon Citizen of the Year Award from the City of Groton. Married to his wife Elizabeth since 2014, he has two children, Randy andMatthew. He is also the proud grandfather of three grandchildren. Dr. Swindell has been highlighted in several editions of Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in Science and Engineering, Who’s Who in the East and Who’s Who in the World. ARCHIE C.
