338 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine I nterested in the technical side of chemistry since he was a high school student, Dr. Laurence Nim Swink was most fascinated withhiswork conducted in theU.S. Air Force during his service as a nuclear research officer. He applied his wealth of knowledge to fields of circuit design and vacuum systems to retrieve information for the Hans Bethe Panel to characterize Soviet nuclear weapons. Citing this time as a highlight of his career, he has also published many achievements, including crystal structures, materials, microanalysis and process techniques. He also contributed to materials and process patents. At the inception of his career in 1966, Dr. Swink served as senior scientist, then as laboratory manager for Texas Instruments before relocating to Amorphous Materials as vice president of research in 1978. After serving two years in that position, he served Xerox Corp. as an advanced systems manager and Multi-Plate Co., Inc., as technical director. In the late 1980s, he was a senior project manager for Siemens Transmission Systems and a senior technical consultant for Quadri Electronics. He then served as president of AZ/TEC Consulting from 1989 to 1999. Drawing upon a Bachelor of Arts in chemistry from the University of Wichita, Master of Science from Iowa State University and PhD from Brown University, Dr. Swink maintains affiliation with the American Crystallographic Association and Central Christian Church of Enid. As a testament to his success in the field, Dr. Swink was highlighted in the second edition of Who’s Who in Science and Engineering in 1993. Dr. Swink was born on October 24, 1934 in Enid, Oklahoma, to parents Lyle Nim and Zelia Alice (Murphy) Swink.
