Allen Sinai has a window on the world as a researcher, analyst, observer, businessperson, financial markets participant and bottom-line forecaster, seeking to discover and understand how the world works through economics and markets. Since 1996, Dr. Sinai has been President, Chief Global Economist and Chief Strategist of Decision Economics, Inc., based in Boston, New York and London. He held senior positions at Lehman Brothers (1983-1996), The Boston Company (1987-1993) and Data Resources, Inc. (1971-1983), and has been a professor at the University of Illinois, MIT Sloan School, Boston University, NYU and Brandeis University. Named a Top Forecaster by Market Watch in 2004 and One of the Ten Smartest Men in Boston by Boston Magazine (1993), Dr. Sinai received an Alumnus Merit Award from Northwestern University, the Otto Eckstein Prize, and the John Sweetland Award from the University of Michigan. Dr. Sinai has appeared in The Wall Street Journal, New York Times, USA Today, Business Week, TV and written media thousands of times. He is on record for “Ahead-of-the-Curve” and “right-on” forecasts of major “Big Wave” trends and cycles in the economy and financial markets. For decades, Dr. Sinai has been a nonpartisan economic policy advisor to Republican and Democratic administrations, and to the U.S. Congress, as a leading economic advisor to Washington. He sits on the Economic Leadership Council and on the Advisory Board for the Ford School of Public Policy at U. of M. He was president of the North American Economics and Finance Association and the Eastern Economic Association, and board member of Boston Private Financial Holdings, Inc. (1992-2014) and Time Board of Economists (1990-2002). Dr. Sinai has contributed over 100 articles to academic/professional journals, and has given, organized, and participated in hundreds of lectures, conferences and speeches.
