99 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine R ichard A. Javorek received a bachelor’s degree in history from Baldwin Wallace University in 1972 and a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction from Kent State University in 1998. Putting his degrees to good use, Mr. Javorek served as a social studies teacher at the Brunswick City Schools for 32 years from 1974 until his retirement in 2006. He was also an adjunct professor at Bryant & Stratton College from 2006 to 2009. For his dedication to his profession, Mr. Javorek was the recipient of the Positive Image Award from the North Eastern Ohio Education Association in 1998. Additionally, he was granted the Golden Apple Achievement Award from the City of Ashland, Ohio, in 1990. One highlight of Mr. Javorek’s career was when he worked with the Youth for Justice Program, a segment of the Ohio Center for Law-Related Education. His students won the state championship twice for their development of better ways to make school easier for the LGBTQ community. In his post-retirement life, Mr. Javorek became an ordainedminister by the Universal Life Church in 2011 and was a co-host of the radio show “Touring Duffers.” Currently, he holds multiple positions with the Boy Scouts of America and the Ohio Social Studies Resource Center. Additionally, Mr. Javorek currently serves as chairman of the Lafayette Township Zoning Commission and is captain of the Ohio History Connection. In his free time, Mr. Javorek enjoys fishing and golfing. Mr. Javorek has served on the Ohio Education Association’s regional coordinator’s council, resolutions commission, awards committee, executive committee, president service advisory council, state council fund for children and public education, and was a liaison to legislative commission. With the North Eastern Ohio Education Association, Mr. Javorek has been chair of the day committee and of the internal political action committee, as well as on the executive committee. Mr. Javorek also served as the Mid Atlantic regional director of the Republican Educators Caucus and was a representative for Ohio with the National Education Association. RICHARD A.
