36 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine ARTS, MEDIA AND ENTERTAINMENT R obert Lucas has held a deep connection and love for the film industry dating back to his high school years. His dreams prompted him to move to Los Angeles in the early 1980s, where he worked on music videos and cult classic horror movies. Always gravitating toward the world of set decoration, later on in his career, Mr. Lucas wanted to dedicate his efforts to art department and design work. In 2013, Mr. Lucas bought out an antique dealer and had the opportunity to open Central Atlanta Props and Sets LLC, Atlanta’s current largest supplier of set dressing for film, television, commercial and theatrical mediums. At the time, Mr. Lucas noticed the upswing of the film industry in Atlanta, and so his business seemed to be in the perfect place. He says the company has since expanded greatly over the years, as its work has since been featured on the shows “Stranger Things,” “Atlanta,” “MacGyver” and “The Walking Dead.” Mr. Lucas’ drive for art department came from his 31 years as the lead person, managing set decoration crews at most of the major studios in California. Looking forward, Mr. Lucas plans to actively grow and expand his company into other areas. He plans to develop a stronger drapery and linens department, a 3D printer to duplicate vintage items that can no longer be found, and he also aims to have a grand stock of various special effects items. Currently, Mr. Lucas is a member of Local 44 of the International Alliance of Stage and Theatrical Employees. He is also a charitable man and donates to many organizations. Mr. Lucas’ advice to the next generation of art and decoration people is to follow your dream, test out different aspects of the industry and do not let anyone discourage you. If you work hard and are persistent, then you will achieve whatever it is you desire. ROBERT LUCAS FOUNDER, OWNER Central Atlanta Props and Sets East Point, GA
