192 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine D r. Allen Sinai feels he has a window on the world as an analyst, observer and researcher. He became involved in his profession to discover what makes the world tick through the window of economics and markets. Dr. Sinai graduated with honors from the University of Michigan in 1961 with a Bachelor of Arts in economics. He also received a Master of Arts in economics in 1966 and PhD in economics in 1969, both from Northwestern University. Since 1996, Dr. Sinai has been the president, chief global economist and strategist of Decision Economics, Inc., based in Boston, New York and London, and president of Laural Consulting. Dr. Sinai has held senior positions at Lehman Brothers from 1983 to 1996, Boston Co. Economic Advisors from 1987 to 1993, The Boston Co. from 1987 to 1993, and Data Resources from 1971 to 1983. Dr. Sinai was named a Top Forecaster by Market Watch in 2004 and was named One of the Ten Smartest Men in Boston by Boston Magazine in 1993. He was the recipient of the John Sweetland Award from the University of Michigan’s Department of Economics, the Alumnus Merit Award from Northwestern University and the Otto Eckstein Prize. Dr. Sinai has been featured in The Wall Street Journal, USA Today and Business Week. A highlight of Dr. Sinai’s career was a percipient article he wrote for Aspenia (Aspen Institute Italy) on his views after the 2016 presidential election. He is a contributor of more than 100 articles in professional and academic journals, is a contributor to books, and has given and participated in lectures, conferences and speeches. Dr. Sinai sits on the board of directors for the Economists for Peace and Security and has been an economic policy advisor for Republican and Democratic administrations and the U.S. Congress. He is also on the advisory board for the Economics Leadership Council at the University of Michigan. He is a former president of the North American Economics and Finance Association and the Eastern Economic Association.
