143 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine I nterested in ecology and natural vegetation since his youth, while growing up in an outer suburb of Washington, D.C., J. Peyton Doub witnessed first-hand the rapid transformation of the local area in losing fields and forests to urban sprawl. He went on to achieve a BS in plant sciences from Cornell University and MS in plant physiology from the University of California Davis. He performed additional graduate coursework and research in herbicide field testing at Virginia Tech. Since 2008, Mr. Doub has served as a senior environmental scientist and terrestrial ecologist for the United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission. His present responsibilities include evaluating impacts on ecological and land use resources for nuclear licensing actions. He works as an environmental representative for a working group on advanced microreactors and a land use technical reviewer for the Tennessee Valley Authority Clinch River Site. He is presently contributing to a generic EIS for building and operating advanced nuclear reactors. Mr. Doub has contributed to dozens of environmental impact statements and other evaluations under the National Environmental Policy Act. Additionally, he has conducted numerous wetland delineations, tree inventories, plant surveys, vegetation mapping and inventories, and ecological risk assessments for sites across the United States. Previously, he was a senior environmental scientist with Tetra Tech NUS, Inc., from 1989 to 2008 and a consultant in vegetation management for Baltimore Gas and Electric from 1987 to 1988. Mr. Doub was the recipient of Performance Awards for work performed from 2011 to 2019. He has authored numerous articles on ecological and environmental issues, and is a regular presenter at Annual Conferences of the National Association of Environmental Professionals. Most recently, he authored a book titled “The Endangered Species Act: History, Implementation, Successes, and Controversies” in 2012. Mr. Doub is a member of the American Nuclear Society and an at-large elected member of the board of directors of the National Association of Environmental Professionals. J.
