332 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine E mily Bradford Gallup always had the mindset that technology should serve us as much as we should serve its creation. She found the idea of creating technology to be fascinating. Therefore, she received a BS in mathematics and physics from the University of Maryland and an MPA in information science from American University. From 2012 until her retirement in 2016, Ms. Gallup was a consultant and office administrator at the Neighborhood Association of the Back Bay, as well as a consultant and general manager of EOS International from 2003 to 2012. For four years, she served as director of library products for IME Group Ltd., and then from 1984 to 1992, Ms. Gallup was director of information systems and assistant director of libraries at the University of Pennsylvania. Similarly, she was director of library automation at Dartmouth College and a programmer and analyst at the College’s Norris Cotton Cancer Center from 1977 to 1984. Additionally, she was a reference librarian at Fiske Free Library in 1976. At the inception of her career, Ms. Gallup was with Documentation, Inc., from 1963 to 1965 and then a technical document analyst for Naval Ship Research and Development for two years. In 1968, she was an operations research analyst with the Food and Drug Administration, and from 1968 to 1973, she was a senior systems analyst at Computer Sciences Corp. A consultant of the U.S. government from1972 to 1976, Ms. Gallupwas also a senior engineer at Creare, Inc., inNewHampshire. Ms. Gallup is a member of the American Library Association, National Academy of Sciences and Association for Computing Machinery. In addition to her rigorous career, Ms. Gallup was a lecturer with the U.S. Information Agency/AMPART in Europe in 1987 and an adjunct professor at Drexel University in 1989. Ms. Gallup credits Wilfred Lancaster from the National Library of Medicine for helping her in furthering her career. Ms. Gallup’s advice to those aspiring to work in her profession is to imagine yourself in the role – if it appears like it could be something you will love, then go for it.
