148 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine ENERGY, ENGINEERING AND MANUFACTURING EDWARD MITSUO NAKAUCHI CONSULTANT (RETIRED) G&M Compliance Westminster, CA G rowing up in the 1950s, Edward Mitsuo Nakauchi was exposed to the fruition and advancements of the radio, piquing his interest in electronics and engineering. He later received an AA in technology from Orange Coast College, a BSEE from Northrop University and an MSEE from Columbia Pacific University. Today, he is known for his contributions to many important projects, such as designing key components and signal conditioners for space shuttles, the B2 Stealth bomber and the early first generation of the Global Positioning System. For 25 years until his retirement in 2013, Mr. Nakauchi served as a senior technology specialist with the Northrop Grumman Space Technology Corporation and a consultant for G&M Compliance. He commenced his career in the 1970s as an engineer for Advanced Kinetics, Electronic Memories, Pertec Business Systems and Basic Four. He went on to become a manager at HTL-K and Century Data Systems before serving as a senior technical specialist for Synoptics Communications. He has also served similar roles in companies such as Emulex Corporation, Laird Technologies and Garwood Laboratories. The patentee of “EMI (Electromagnet Interference) Shielding Including a Lossy Medium,” Mr. Nakauchi also taught courses at the University of California Irvine in Electromagnet Interference/Electromagnetic Capability, PCB Design Control for EMI and Principles of Electrical Engineering. He is a member of the IEEE and EOS/ESD Association, and was a co-author of “Testing for EMC Compliance: Approaches and Techniques” in 2007. Notably, Mr. Nakauchi was the recipient of the Speaker and Committee Award and the Outstanding Service Award from the IEEE in 1986 and 1984, respectively. Additionally, in 1966, he took home a Technical Paper Award from the Instrument Society of America, along with mentor awards from UC Irvine. He credits much of his success toMichel W. King, who was the inspiration behind his introduction to EMI and EMC.
