150 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine W ith an aptitude for mathematics, John Rudolf went on to receive a BS in civil engineering, and in 1960, graduated as Jan Rudolf with an MS in civil engineering from the Wroclaw University of Science and Technology in Poland. At the start of his career with HNTB-NYC for more than 11 years, he obtained design experience, which he utilized in 1973 for 30 years as the chief civil/structural engineer in the Metro Construction Management team, building the entire original 106-mile Metrorail in Washington, D.C. After retiring from Metro, he continued as a prominent figure in a large Design- Build contractor as the chief/project engineer for design and construction of the Metrorail extension to the International Airport at Dulles, Virginia. He has involvement building underground infrastructures for the airport Automatic People Mover. Mr. Rudolf, through exam by NYU, is a registered Professional Engineer in New York, Virginia, Maryland and the District of Columbia. Since 2013, he has served as chief structural engineer for tunnels and bridges at Gall Zeidler Consultants (GZ). His role continued at GZ while serving the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) as the structural engineering manager for the reviews and approval of contractors designs during construction of the Metro Silver Line-Ph2. He contributed his experience in GZ in many projects for Railroads, Metros, MAGLEV (High- Speed-Rail) and Highway tunnels design. For his success, Mr. Rudolf was the recipient of the 1998-WMATA General Manager Meritorious Achievement Award. Additionally, in 1982, he received a Letter of Appreciation from the WMATA Director of Construction for his innovative solutions, allowing timely and successful completion of the deep underground Metro stations in D.C. He believes he has accomplished these goals through hard work and bravery to take on tough work. Mr. Rudolf is a member of Society for Mining, Metallurgy and Exploration, and a prior member of the American Concrete Institute, American Segmental Bridge Association and International Tunneling Association.
