John Frederick Brown Haney received a BS in chemistry in 1959 and an MD in 1964, both from Yale University. In 1965, he completed an internship in internal medicine at the University of Colorado and finished his residency in psychiatry at the Yale School of Medicine in 1968. He served two years of active duty with the U.S. Navy at the New London Naval Submarine Base as chief of psychiatry, remaining with the U.S. Naval Reserve until 1995 as captain in the Medical Corps. Dr. Haney chose to be a psychiatrist to combine his interest of chemistrywith his affinity for people. Amember of the AmericanMedical Association and American Group Psychotherapy Association, he is also a distinguished life fellow of the American Psychiatric Association. Currently in private practice, Dr. Haney was previously the medical director and attending psychiatrist at Natchaug Hospital in Mansfield, Connecticut between 1993 and 2003. A diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, he has been recognized for 45 years as medical director and chair of the board of directors for Perception Programs, Eastern Connecticut’s drug and alcohol treatment program, of which he was a co-founder. JOHN FREDERICK BROWN HANEY, MD KATHLEEN CAMPBELL HAMMON K athleen Campbell Hammon received a BA in sociology and MEd in guidance and personnel services, both from North Carolina State University. A certified elementary school counselor, she was a family support coordinator with the Brain Injury Association of North Carolina for eight years. She is also an exercise coach of gentle movement at the Arthritis Foundation and enjoys volunteering with the sheriff’s department of Orange County, where she provides wellness visits to seniors and brings them food. Prior to her current positions, Ms. Hammon was an aerobics instructor at the Raleigh Parks and Recreation Department, a curator at the Joel Lane Museum House and an instructor at Wake Technical Community College. She was the longtime owner and manager of College Exxon from 1978 to 1992. At the inception of her career, she taught adult basic education, reading, writing and mathematics in the North Carolina prison system. Twice named an Outstanding Citizen by Business Leader Magazine, Ms. Hammon thrives as long as she is helping individuals learn. She was amember of Cardinal Singers and now sings with the Chapel Hill Chorus, and also served on the Life Experiences Board of Directors in the 1970s. HEALTH AND WELLNESS
