111 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine R enowned for his dedication to the field of education, Dr. Dale F. Nitzschke received a Bachelor of Education from Loras College in 1959 and an MEd in 1960 and PhD in 1964, both in guidance and counseling, from Ohio University. Most recently, he served as a chancellor of Southeast Missouri State University from 1996 to 2001, where he was instrumental in helping to secure $2 million in funding for construction efforts for the River campus. He also served the university as president for three years. Backed by years of professional experience, Dr. Nitzschke is a former president of the University of New Hampshire from 1990 to 1994 and of Marshall University from 1984 to 1990. At the University of Nevada, he was a professor of education for four years before his promotion to vice president of academy affairs from 1980 to 1984, as well as a dean and professor in the College of Education at the University of Northern Iowa from 1976 to 1980. Dr. Nitzschke commenced his academic tenure as an instructor of education at Loras College in 1961, and received a promotion to chairman of the Department of Education in 1965. In 1967, he joined Ohio University as an associate professor of education and associate dean until 1972. He then spent the next five years as dean of education and associate dean of professional and general studies at the State University of New York at Plattsburgh. Dr. Nitzschke has received various accolades throughout his career, and in 1998, he was granted the John T. Crowe Award from the Regional Commerce and Growth Association. Outside of the institutions he has served, he has also won awards from the West Virginia Association for Counseling and Development and Public Relations Society of America, among others. Dr. Nitzschke doubles as a skilled writer and has contributed to numerous journals and articles within the fields of education, research and fundraising. He is involved with the Boys Scouts of America’s Greater St. Louis Council, and previously served on the board of directors for the New England Council and the West Virginia Education Fund. DALE F.
