112 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine K ayla Northcutt has always loved working with children, and from a young age, she set her sights on becoming a teacher. Since 2017, she has been a teacher within the Frenship Independent School District in Wolfforth, Texas, with certifications in early childhood education and English as a second language. Ms. Northcutt finds great reward in her career and aims to make a positive impact in the beginning of children’s education, which she believes is the most important stage of a student’s educational development. Backed by a Bachelor of Science in early childhood education and teaching from Texas Tech University, Ms. Northcutt also holds a Master of Science in educational leadership from Texas Tech. She plans to further pursue a PhD in order to better qualify for positions within the realm of administrative education. In five years’ time, Ms. Northcutt’s goal is to be a principal of an elementary school or a director of a preschool program. She believes it is essential to obtain classroom experience with students before taking on higher roles so that administration can best represent the needs of students in educational decision- making. Notably, Ms. Northcutt has received awards and recognition from Kappa Delta Phi, Phi Kappa Phi and the Aspiring Administrators Leadership Academy. She attributes her success to her mentors, who have helped shape her traits, values and goals. Ms. Northcutt’s personal definition of success is to set goals, whether long or short-term, and do your best to achieve them even if the outcome may be different from the original goal. Ms. Northcutt is a member of the National Academy of Sciences. She works and lives by the motto, “Be kind and do your best every day,” and in her free time, she enjoys scuba diving and similar outdoor activities.
