From1984 to 1991, heworked at General Office Environments in Saddle Brook, New Jersey, where he led sales and marketing as director, then vice president and senior vice president. In the 1990s, he became executive vice president and general manager of Lubin Business Interiors in Milford, Connecticut, and then executive vice president and general manager of Wagner Office Furniture in Tampa, Florida. Mr. Manilla was a member and competition official of the Michigan, New Jersey and American Water Ski Associations, as well as a member of the Association of General Contractors of Indiana, the Construction Specification Institute, the Building Owners and Managers Association, the International Facility Management Association, the Indianapolis Athletic Club and his local Rotary Club. J ack Manilla received a BS in business administration from Youngstown State University in 1966 and a master’s degree in management from Aquinas College in 1984. In 1996, he founded Portofino Pools, Inc., and in 2004, founded Portofino University. His former experience in commercial building construction and interiors contracting served himwell in scaling the business and in acquiring another pool firm, founded in 1956. At the inception of his career in the 1960s, Mr. Manilla advanced to vice president of Yankee Lake Amusement Company, and then joined Westinghouse Electric Corporation for 15 years. He held numerous positions nationwide in the Elevator Division, including contract reviewer, engineer’s assistant, sales engineer I in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, sales engineer II in Union, New Jersey, and Miami, Florida, tri-state district manager in Indianapolis, Indiana, and in the Architectural and Furniture System Division in Grand Rapids, Michigan, multi-state regional manager and national sales manager. He was the recipient of many national awards.
