Contacted by Bowling Green State University soon thereafter, he attended college with free tuition and met one of the first industrial-organizational psychologists, who became a mentor. Subsequently, Dr. Jones joined the U.S. Army for two years, later returning to Bowling Green State University to earn a PhD in industrial-organizational psychology in 1976. He then worked for Arthur Young & Co. for five years as a consultant. Founding his first company in 1980, titled Consulting Resources Corp., Dr. Jones served as vice president for two years before developing HRStrategies, Inc., as founder and chief executive officer. Maintaining those roles until 1994, he then served as executive vice president for Aon Consulting from 1995 to 2000 and chief executive officer of Growth Ventures, Inc., in 2000 – a role he maintains today. In 2012, he also became president of Growth Ventures’ Hire Payoff Division. Throughout his career, Dr. Jones has been seen and interviewed on several media broadcasts, including television and radio. Specializing in industrial-organizational psychology and human resources, Dr. Jones has notably consulted for nearly every organization across the globe. From the mid-1970s onward, his key focus has been developing strategies on screening and hiring individuals, as well as advocating and consulting for companies who were begin targeted by the United States government. Likewise, he has served as a court testifier and deposition witness. Dr. Jones wrote the book “Million Dollar Hire” in 2011, where he notes the lesson of the book is to “build your bottom line, one employee at a time.” The book shows how premier companies have reincarnated themselves and forged through competition with innovative recruiting and hiring practices, even in economies in decline.
