286 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine SOCIAL SERVICES AND NONPROFIT Brown has been the founding president of Grace Chapel Ministries since 1981. Prior, he was a project coordinator for Oasis from 2004 to 2008, president of the National Cable Training Center from 1980 to 1984 and Woodstock Industrial Products Group from 1974 to 1980, and executive director of the Interracial Council for Business Opportunity from 1972 to 1974. Likewise, he was the Midwest regional director of labor affairs for the National Urban League from 1970 to 1972. Drawing upon a BEd from Harris-Stowe State University, Mr. Brown also pursued postgraduate coursework at the University of Nebraska and Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey. In 1986, he earned an honorary PhD from Tarkio College. Mr. Brown aided in the development of the City of St. Louis’ National Month for Employment Awareness for Disabilities, occurring annually in October. Mr. Brown is a member of Omega Psi Phi fraternity and a 32nd degree Mason in Prince Hall. L arry A. Brown is one of three owners and board chairman of Worknet, Inc., a minority owned for-profit company that aids individuals with disabilities re-enter the workforce. Drawn to the field in light of opportunities that were presented to him over the course of his career, Mr. Brown has always enjoyed helping others solve complex problems within both their professional and personal lives. Members of the disabled community are referred to Mr. Brown’s organization by the Social Security Administration, who provide disabled individuals with Social Security Disability benefits. From there, Mr. Brown tailors job opportunities to what the individual desires to do, in which they would feel successful. Mr. Brown finds pleasure in his profession and has noticed that his clients have enjoyed having an advocate by their side who endeavors to restore aspects of their lives that they initially thought they would not be able to achieve. At the inception of his career, Mr. Brown was a teacher influenced by his family, who taught him to respect others and aid in their self-improvement. Alongside his current appointment, Rev. LARRY A.
