27 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine ARTS, MEDIA AND ENTERTAINMENT Supported by over 45 years of experience in engraved art jewelry and three-dimensional mixed media sculptures, Kit Carson has been the owner and designer of his Arizona-based atelier, Kit Carson Jewelry, since 1975. Boasting a great passion for the arts from a young age, he first studied at the University of Oregon and Yavapai College under art instructor Dick Marcusen, who instilled in him the value of mastering his craft. Likewise, he studied under master engraver Sam Alphano in 2009. Presently, Mr. Carson is working on a series of 20 wall pieces that incorporate life-sized, hand-engraved birds of Arizona on compositions of rusty recycled steel. Paying homage to these delightful animals as they traverse through their lives among the loss of habitat due to the human industrial age, Mr. Carson has also recently been commissioned by a renowned collector to create a six-foot by five-foot raven. Described by collectors and prominent, high-profile celebrities as a creator of art nouveau pieces with influences in Wild Western and gothic art, Mr. Carson has also been influenced by the artistic renderings of the Mexican Dia de los Muertos (“Day of the Dead”) celebrations of life and death. Notably, the famous collector Robin Williams described Mr. Carson as “Rene Lalique meets Dr. Seuss at the High Noon Bar,” referring to his expertise in the art nouveau style and incorporation of humor into his work, which also features “the rusty wabi-sabi” of sun-sanded metal. As he has journeyed throughout his career, Mr. Carson has been included in national juried art and craft shows, honorably receiving first-place awards at the Scottsdale Festival of the Arts, Beverly Hills Art Show and Contemporary Crafts Market. Likewise, he has been highlighted in myriad magazines and was the first featured artist on the PSB series, “Craft in America.” Alongside his primary endeavors, Mr. Caron has been a design consultant for Shelby Wilson Architects for over 20 years, in which he creates and installs architectural additions such as sconces, chandeliers and gates.
