277 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine SCIENCES, PHARMACEUTICALS AND BIOTECHNOLOGY Since 2006, Dr. Robert Nobuo Yoshimori has excelled as head of the Section of Microbiology Laboratory and as a clinical microbiologist within the Department of Pathology at the Harbor-UCLA Medical Center. Joining the Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in 1972, he has served as head of the Section of Medical Microbiology for the past 48 years, having concurrently flourished as an assistant professor of pathology between 1992 and 2006. Congruent to these roles, Dr. Yoshimori served the UCLA School of Medicine as an assistant professor from 1972 to 1979. Previously, he was a part-time bacteriologist at the San Francisco VA Hospital for two years, chief microbiologist at the Long Beach Memorial Hospital for two years, and a research assistant and graduate assistant within the Department of Microbiology at the University of Missouri School of Veterinary Medicine for three years. He commenced his career in 1959 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa, where he was a medical technologist and chief medical technologist until 1962. Drawing upon a BA in general science and a certificate in medical technology from the University of Iowa, an MS in medical microbiology from the University of Missouri School of Medicine and a PhD in microbiology from the University of California San Francisco, Dr. Yoshimori completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the UCSF Medical Center in 1972. Throughout his illustrious career, he has contributed numerous theses, research papers and abstracts in his field, as well as conducted lectures, seminars and presentations. To remain abreast of industry developments, he is a member of the American Society of Clinical Pathology and American Society of Microbiology. In recognition of his outstanding contributions to the medical sciences, Dr. Yoshimori has earned myriad grants in the field and was honored with an Outstanding Student Award from the University of Missouri from 1962 to 1964. Likewise, he was named an Outstanding Clinical Pathology Faculty Member by the Harbor-UCLA Medical Center between 1994 and 2011. Looking toward the future, Dr. Yoshimori intends to experience a welldeserved retirement.
