98 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine EDUCATION Attracted to chemistry from a formative age, Dr. Dennis Neil Kevill is a noteworthy chemistry educator who accrued 46 years of experience prior to his retirement. Most recently serving as a distinguished research professor at Northern Illinois University (NIU) for 15 years, he attained emeritus status in 2005. He joined the faculty at NIU in 1963 and subsequently excelled in such positions as a presidential research professor, university research professor and chemistry professor. Previously, he was a research associate at the University of Nebraska and an assistant lecturer at the University College London. Dr. Kevill holds a BS and PhD from the University College London from 1956 and 1960, respectively, and obtained a DSc from the University of London in 1982. During his educational tenure, he flourished as a visiting professor at myriad universities across the globe and cooperated with such entities as the National Science Foundation and NATO to share his wealth of knowledge with other scholars. He has also maintained membership with the American Chemical Society, Royal Society of Chemistry and Sigma Xi, among others. Post-retirement, Dr. Kevill continues to publish papers and review articles in his field. DISTINGUISHED RESEARCH PROFESSOR EMERITUS Northern Illinois University, DeKalb DeKalb, IL A secondary school educator, Nancy B. Lehmann-Carssow spent 40 years with Lanier High School in the Austin Independent School District. Excelling in such roles as a world geography teacher, instructional specialist, partner in education representative, and girls’ tennis and wrestling coach, she retired from education in 2012. Postretirement, she has worked as a tour guide in Africa since 1974. An alumnus of the University of Texas, Ms. Lehmann-Carssow received a BS and an MA. Additionally, she studied at the University of Nairobi, Texas A&I University and Kenya Science Teacher’s College, among others. She was responsible for distributing polio vaccines to Cote d’Ivoire and Ghana in 2009 and 2017, as well as solar lights in Belize in 2014. She financed the construction of the Rehema Orphanage and School in Nairobi, Kenya, and participates with the Northwest Austin Rotary Club. She received a 2018 Distinguished Service Award from the Rotary Foundation, 1998 Peacemaker Award from the Austin Dispute Resolution Center, and 1975 Merit Award from the National Council of Geography Education. In 1997, she was the first geography teacher to receive the University of Texas Excellence Award for Outstanding High School Teachers.
