44 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine D avid E. Garrison fostered a passion for the creative arts as a child, and eventually graduated from the American Academy of Art in 1969. Shortly thereafter, he relocated to France, where he advanced his artistic skills and was afforded opportunities to exhibit his work in a renowned Parisian gallery. Mr. Garrison notes that American art collectors would often travel to his Paris gallery openings. As time progressed, he moved back to the United States and obtained his BFA from Iowa Wesleyan College in 1987. Mr. Garrison has exhibited his artwork through the Oil Painters Association, the Hudson Valley Art Association, the Pastel Society of America and the Butler Institute of American Art, displaying his work across the United States and abroad in France and Taiwan. He has also had open house exhibitions in his studio in Burlington, Iowa. A former pastel workshop teacher through the Pastel Society of America, he recently earned the 2020 Award of Excellence from the Pastel Society of Iowa. He received the 18th Salon de Peinture Lead Crystal Award in 2017 and was named Master of Light from la Société des Pastellistes de France in 1998. AMERICAN FINE ARTIST Burlington, IA DAVID E. GARRISON ARTS, MEDIA AND ENTERTAINMENT I nspired to enter the field of historical filmmaking after watching the funeral of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in the 1960s, Steve Collins founded his own production company titled SVCC Productions in 1991, for whom he now serves as a musician, videographer and documentarian. Producing the documentaries “The Don Linzy Dixon Story” and “The Boy with the Pop Bottle on his Head,” the former of which detailed the life and legacy of the gospel singer Don Linzy, Mr. Collins and his films have been broadcasted at several film festivals. Notably, he received the Best Documentary Award from the Mid-South Black Film Festival and an award from the Indie’s Festival. Attributing his success to his dedication to his craft, Mr. Collins immerses himself completely in the production process from inception to completion, and intends to leave behind a resounding legacy within the field of videography and documentary-making. Married to his wife Vicky for many years, he has two children, Cory and Cortland. Additionally, he has one daughter-in-law, Tonya, and two grandchildren, Ashlyn and Kalia.
