Since 2020, he has been a director of the Orange Toxicology Laboratory in San Bernardino. A licensed clinical chemist in California and diplomate of the American Board of Clinical Chem- istry, Dr. Chou has served as a consultant for ICL Sciences. He maintains membership with the Cali- fornia Association forMedical Laboratory Technol- ogy, the Clinical Ligand Assay Society, the Ameri- can Association of Clinical Chemistry and the North American Chinese Clinical Chemistry Asso- ciation, for whom he served as president in 1984. His late father Chou Zuei, MD, donated church lands tobuild threechurches inTaiwan. Currently, there is a Chou Zuei Memorial Hall inside Chi-Hou Presbyterian Church. To follow his father’s footsteps, Dr. Chou donated $700,000 to the Chi-Hou Presbyterian Church and has already built the Chou Zuei Memorial House of Devotion in memory of his late father. A n alumnus of National Chung-Hsing University in Taiwan, Dr. Peter Wei-Shin Chou graduated with a BS in agricul- tural chemistry in 1954 prior to taking on his first role as a chemistry teach- er at the Cishan Agricultural Vocational School. Departing in 1956, he immigrated to the U.S. and earned a BS in food technology from Oregon State University, Corvallis in 1958 and MS in food science from Washington State University, Pull- man in 1960. While studying toward his doctor- ate at the University of Missouri, he served the university as a teaching and research assistant. He earned a PhD in biochemistry in 1968 and served as a postdoctoral fellow. Dr. Chou excelled as a research associate at Methodist Hospital inBrooklynandatMendocino State Hospital. From 1972 to 1973, he was a med- tech trainee at Western Laboratories before joining the Nichols Institute for Endocrinology (now Quest Diagnostics Laboratories) as a clinical chemist scientist from 1973 to 1976.
