He then attended the Pratt Institute and received an MLS in 1974 and New York University, obtaining an MA in musicology in 1982. A portrait painting demonstrator, Mr. Rorick continues to teach portrait painting and hosts a portrait sketch group in his studio affiliated with the Portrait Club of Greater Southbury. He maintains affiliation with the American Society of Portrait Artists, American Printing History Association, International Association of Music Libraries and Music Library Association. He is a past corresponding secretary of the Society of Creative Arts of Newtown and a founding member and past secretary of the Connecticut Society of Portrait Artists. Mr. Rorick has received Best in Show and other awards at local, regional and national art shows, as well as accolades from the Allied Artists of America, the Hudson Valley Art Association and the Academic Artists Association. D istinguished in the arts and in academia, William C. Rorick is an acclaimed artist whose work specializes in still life and landscapes in oil and pastel. With work featured in the National Academy of Design and the New York Academy of Arts, his portraits have been selected for inclusion in both private and public collections across the nation. Retiring in 1996, Mr. Rorick is recognized as an assistant professor emeritus and reference librarian at the Music Library of Queens College, part of the City University of New York, where he joined in 1974. Prior to his tenure, he was a curator of the Orchestral-Choral Library, reference assistant and office manager at the Manhattan School of Music Library. Mr. Rorick pursued a formal education at Ohio Wesleyan University and obtained a BA in economics and business administration in 1963. Serving in the U.S. Army from 1964 to 1966, he returned to the U.S. after serving overseas in Germany and earned a MusB in music history and literature at the University of Utah in 1968 and a MusM in music history and literature WILLIAM C.
