BAUMERT, MD, PHD, MBA A distinguished radiologist-oncologist, educator and trainer of residents, Dr. Brigitta G. Baumert has served Kantonsspital Graubünden in Switzerland as head of the Institute of Radiation- Oncology since 2019, in which she expresses her interest in brain tumors and radiotherapy treatment techniques. Concurrently, she is the secretary-general of the executive committee of the Brain Tumour Group with the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer. Prior positions to her credit have included associate professor for the Maastro Clinic at Maastricht University in the Netherlands, as well as myriad roles at the University Hospital of Maastricht, the University Hospital of Zurich and the University of Bonn, among other institutions. Drawing upon an MD from Albert Ludwigs University Freiburg, Dr. Baumert completed a residency in radiation oncology at the University Hospital of Zurich and earned a PhD in stereotactic radiotherapy from the University of Maastricht. She later obtained an MBA from the Maastricht School of Management. Throughout her career, Dr. Baumert has contributed to more than 146 publications with an HR index of 43 medical clinical research and clinical trials. E xcelling at science from a formative age, Dr. David J. Callans desired to pursue a career in medicine, receiving a BA in biological sciences from the University of Chicago in 1982. In 1986, he earned an MD from the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and subsequently completed his residency and fellowship in cardiology and cardiac electrophysiology at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in 1993. Joining the University of Pennsylvania upon the completion of his medical training, Dr. Callans flourished as director of the Heart Station, co-director of the Electrophysiology Laboratory, clinical assistant professor, associate professor and full professor of medicine, a role in which he has served since 2003. He has contributed to more than 300 peer-reviewed publications, as well as published the sixth edition of “Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology.” A former education committee chair of the Heart Rhythm Society, Dr. Callans was recognized as a Top Doctor in 2007, 2008, 2010 and from 2012 to 2018.
