Artabane, Esq., joined the debate team and immediately recognized his affinity for argumentation and critical thinking. Desiring to become a trial lawyer, he attended Georgetown University, where he acquired a Bachelor of Arts, cum laude, in 1971 and a JD in 1974. During his time at Georgetown, he was an editor of the Georgetown Law Journal. Admitted to the D.C. Bar, U.S. Court of Claims and U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia in 1975, he went on to be admitted to practice law before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C., First, Third, Fourth and Seventh Circuits, the Supreme Court of the United States and the U.S. Court of International Trade. Commencing his career with Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft LLP in Washington, D.C., as an attorney, a position he held for a decade, Mr. Artabane went on to serve as a partner at Spriggs & Hollingsworth, P.C., from 1988 to 1993. From there, he joined as partner of Riley & Artabane, P.C., in Washington from 1993 to 1998 before becoming the managing attorney of Artabane & Belden, P.C., a role he still holds today. He has notably tried cases in 46 states and territories. Holding an AV Preeminent Rating through Martindale-Hubbell, Mr. Artabane has contributed myriad articles to professional journals. To remain abreast of developments in an ever-changing field, he maintains affiliation with the District of Columbia Bar Association and the American Bar Association, for whom he served on the litigation and public contract law sections. Likewise, he is a past president and board of directors member of the Belle Haven Country Club and a member of Phi Beta Kappa and Pi Sigma Alpha. Although his career has been filled with highlights, Mr. Artabane is especially proud of being assigned a case between The Washington Post and chairman of Mobile as a young attorney. The case was assigned out of the New York office and tried in Washington, D.C.
