234 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine LAW AND LAW ENFORCEMENT S upported by more than 45 years of ex- perience within the realm of law, John Chapman Bell Jr. is a pronounced attor- ney who specializes in the advocacy of victims of accidents, workplace injuries, toxic torts, environmental wrongs, defective products and other devastating injuries. Trying more than 100 jury trials, he has garnered sever- al verdicts on behalf of his clients, including an award of $45 million. Likewise, he has been lead counsel in numerous class action cases regard- ing fraud and environmental harm. After receiving his JD, with honors, from the University of Georgia School of Law in 1972, Mr. Bell was admitted to the Georgia Bar and began serving as a law clerk for the U.S. District Judge Wilbur D. Owens Jr. Maintaining that role for two years, he founded Bell & Brigham in Augusta, Georgia in 1974. Currently, he serves as a trial lawyer and senior partner. After many years in the field, he was also admitted to the South Carolina Bar in 1991. Authoring several articles in Trial Magazine, including the 1988 article “Proof of Causation,” Mr. Bell also co-authored the “Handbook on Student Legal Rights.” He has been elected to a number of prominent positions within industry-related organizations as well, including as president of the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association between 1997 and 1998. Additionally, he sat on the board of directors of Trial Lawyers for Public Justice from 1994 to 1997, was chairman of the environmental and toxic tort section of the American Association for Justice from 1989 to 1990 and was president of the Georgia Legal History Foundation. Notably, he is a fellow of the International Society of Barristers.
