Desiring to help other families in their time of need, Mr. Bush and his wife wanted to alter the perception of the funeral business, noting that while funeral services were often seen as a for- profit field, he and his wife wanted to create a comforting environment for each client. Likewise, Mr. Bush has served as an educator and coach for several years, as well as a Park Commissioner and Alderman for the City of Leland. To remain abreast of developments in his fields of interest, he has maintained affiliation with the National Judges Association and Mississippi Association of Justice Court Judges, for whom he sat as a board member. Furthermore, he is a past president of his local chapter of the Alcorn State University Alumni Association and of the Alcorn State University Athletic Association, and a member of the Masons, 100 Black Men and the Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity. Civically, he is engaged with the Agape Storage Christian Center. A 1985 graduate of Leland High School in Mississippi, Cedric C. Bush was renowned for his athletic prowess, in which he performed sports such as football, basketball and track. Impressively, he was an All-Conference/All- State athlete, and his talent was recognized by numerous academic institutions across the nation. Matriculating at Alcorn State University, from whom he earned a Bachelor of Science, Mr. Bush was recruited as a running back for the Alcorn State Braves, and subsequently earned several accolades for his ventures, including the SWAC Newcomer of the Year Award. To date, he holds the record for most rushing attempts in a single game with 26 consecutive carries. Following his collegiate studies, he was drafted by the Seattle Seahawks in 1989 and was inducted into Alcorn State University’s Sports Hall of Fame. In the present day, Mr. Bush has excelled as a justice court judge for the Washington County Justice Court in District Three, a role he has held since 2019. Alongside this professional venture, he has also served as the co-owner of Bush Funeral Services in Leland, Mississippi, since CEDRIC C.
