Furthermore, he is a lifetime fellow of the American Bar Foundation. Mr. Wyrsch pursued a formal education at the University of Notre Dame, where he earned a BA in 1963. Matriculating in Georgetown University, he received a JD in 1966. Years later, he obtained an LLM from the University of Missouri in 1972. He has been admitted to practice in Missouri, as well as before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second and the Fourth through Eleventh Circuits. He has also been admitted before the Supreme Court of the United States, the U.S. Court of Federal Claims, the U.S. Tax Court and the U.S. Court of Military Appeals. A past vice president and president of the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Foundation, Mr. Wyrsch also served as a national chair of a committee of the American College of Trial Lawyers and as a director of the Missouri Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. In recognition of his legal prowess, he received the 2011 Sean Brian Justice Award from the Midwestern Innocence Project, the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association, the National Trial Lawyers Top 100 Lawyers Award, the 2007 Liberty and Justice Award from the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Foundation and the 2004 Charles Shaw Trial Advocacy Award from the Missouri Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. He has been highlighted in Super Lawyers and Best Lawyers of America, among others. E xcelling as a lawyer for over 50 years, James R. Wyrsch joined Wyrsch, Hobbs & Mirakian in Kansas City, Missouri, in 1970 as an associate. Desiring to progress further, he advanced to of counsel in 1972, holding the role for five years.
