259 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine LAW AND LAW ENFORCEMENT NORTH CAROLINA COURT OF APPEALS Fayetteville, NC JUDGE JOHN MARSH TYSON P ossessing 40-plus years of diverse legal, educational and corporate experience, Judge John Marsh Tyson was re-elected to the North Carolina Court of Appeals in 2014 and previously served on that court from 2001 to 2009. He also served as an emergency Superior Court judge, recall judge on the Court of Appeals and as chairman of the North Carolina State Ethics Commission. He also is an adjunct professor of law at Campbell University and Elon University, a board- certified specialist in real property by the North Carolina State Bar Board of Legal Specialization, and a certified mediator and arbitrator. Earning a BA in English and education from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and a JD, with honors, from Campbell University, Judge Tyson also earned an MBA from Duke University and an LLM in judicial process from the University of Virginia. He is admitted to practice in North Carolina and Virginia, and before the U.S. Supreme Court and lower Federal Courts. Volunteering with the American Red Cross, Kiwanis Club and his Alumni Associations, Judge Tyson has drafted several books, published essays and articles. Notably, he holds an AV Preeminent Rating from Martindale-Hubbell.
