210 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine HEALTH AND WELLNESS commitment to evidence-based practices led her to seek training as a wellness coach. To attest to her success, Dr. Campos Rivera has receivedmyriad accolades and honors throughout her career. She received an award for her commitment to volunteer work from the American Academy of Pediatrics, aswell as a Doctor’s Choice Award. Additionally, she was named Champion of the Walk by her local chapter of the March of Dimes, and she has been an active collaborator of the Boys and Girls Club of Puerto Rico. Looking toward the future, Dr. Campos Rivera is working towards the final data collection of an ongoing lifestyle clinical trial in the hopes of translating into her new clinic the product of the culturally appropriate and multimethod strategy, combined with an interdisciplinary approach that will incorporate teaching methodologies for emerging and established health professionals. She fully intends to train the next generation of physicians in the forthcoming years. Attributing her success to her ability to persevere and remain determined in her goals, Dr. Maribel Campos Rivera has excelled as a professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Puerto Rico Medical Sciences Campus since 2006. Desiring to help others from a formative age, she was influenced by her grandparents, who were involved in public service. She completed a Bachelor of Science in pre-medical studies and an MD from the University of Puerto Rico. She also completed an MBA in health care management from the University of Phoenix and a postdoctoral Master of Science in clinical research. Leveraging her undergraduate studies in biology, Dr. Campos Rivera felt prepared to enter the field of pediatrics and has since specialized in neonatal perinatal medicine and obesity medicine. Prior to attaining her current academic position, she served in private practice for two years. She has maintained affiliation with the American Academy of Pediatrics, American Medical Association, the Obesity Society and the Obesity Medicine Association to remain abreast of changes in an ever-evolving field.
