331 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine SOCIAL SERVICES AND NONPROFIT Crediting much of his success to the influence of his adoptive parents, John and Mary Easterwood, James Ralph Easterwood joined the Glen Haven Baptist Church in 1947, thus setting him on the path toward the ministry. After serving the Baptist Church as a choir director, he became licensed to preach in 1966. From 1967 to 1983, he faithfully served as an associate pastor before being escalated to senior pastor. Maintaining the role for the following 27 years, he retired from being a pastor in 2010 when he was named a pastor emeritus. Since 2005, he continues to serve as a chaplain for the Henry County Police Department, and since 2020, has been a Bible instructor in the Baptist Church. Revolving his life around the Glen Haven Baptist Church, Mr. Easterwood emphasizes that if it were not for the church’s influence on his life, he would not have been acquainted with his wife or experienced the success of his ministry career. Married to Gwen Easterwood since 1953, he and his wife share five children, 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Although his career has been filled with highlights, he is especially proud of his marriage and family as a whole, who have been his beacon for inspiration. Notably, Mr. Easterwood was featured in several sources of media, including The Henry County Times in 2020, “Chaplain’s Corner” in the Southern Journal Magazine in 2012 and 2013, and in Celebrity Chef Magazine and H Magazine Biz, both in 2011. The author of the book, “I Remember America When,” Mr. Easterwood also participated in the Glen Haven Television Ministry and was a tenor in the vocal group Jane Keel and Jubilation between 1976 and 1981. For his efforts with the Henry County Police Department, Mr. Easterwood was named Chaplain of the Year on nine occasions, which he cites as a career achievement. He is also fond of fundraising for soldiers and individuals who are struggling with the coronavirus pandemic, citing both experiences as humbling moments of his career. Looking forward, Mr. Easterwood intends to still be teaching his community members the words of the Bible. JAMES RALPH EASTERWOOD PASTOR EMERITUS Glen Haven Baptist Church McDonough, GA
