105 A Marquis Who's Who Magazine D r. Paul Davis is a professor and endocrinologist whose research interests include the effects of aging on endocrine function and defining mechanisms for nongenomic actions of thyroid hormones. As a faculty member of the Pharmaceutical Research Institute at the Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, he leads a team of scientists and researchers analyzing receptors that can be used for antiangiogenic therapy to treat cancer. The former director of the Ordway Research Institute from 1999 to 2011, he served as a clinical and senior staff associate early in his career. After receiving a bachelor’s degree from Westminster College and an MD from Harvard University, Dr. Davis worked for the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Md., one of the world’s foremost medical research facilities. From there, he became head of the endocrinology division of Baltimore City Hospitals before bringing his expertise into the classroom as a professor of medicine in the SUNY Buffalo Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. In addition to these roles, he chaired the department of medicine at Albany Medical College and was chief of medical service at the Buffalo VAMedical Center. A highly published researcher, Dr. Davis has written and co-authored 215 papers and scientific articles appearing in peer-reviewed journals. He has also edited scholarly articles and select book chapters, and he has served on multiple committees as a member of the American Thyroid Association, the American Board of Internal Medicine, and the American College of Physicians. Other organizations with which he is affiliated include the American Federation for Medical Research, the Endocrine Society, the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, the American Diabetes Association, and the American Association for Cancer Research. Among the numerous accolades Dr. Davis has received throughout his career are the AmericanThyroid Association’s Distinguished Service Award, an OutstandingTeaching Award from the medical student body at the SUNY Buffalo Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, and the Laureate Award from the New York chapter of the American College of Physicians. He has also been featured in multiple editions of Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in Medicine and Healthcare, and Who’s Who in Science and Engineering.
