463 A Marquis Who's Who Magazine C harles F. Hammer has dedicated over four decades to educating future leaders, with his expertise in chemistry contributing to his success. He started his career as a NIHPD fellow studying nuclear magnetic resonance and the X-ray crystallography of steroids at Brandeis University. Soon thereafter, he began to impart his knowledge to others as a professor. Throughout his more than 40 years in education, he has conducted research in chemistry and the mechanisms of nitrogen heterocyclics and steroids, bromination-dehydrobromination reactions, and computer software applications of spectrometric analysis. Dr. Hammer’s greatest achievement was establishing a charter school in Santa Fe in 2000, which became the fifth best school in the state of New Mexico. He has been affiliated with several scientific organizations, including the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the American Chemical Society, the American Society for Mass Spectrometry, the Society for Applied Spectroscopy and ASTM. In his career, Dr. Hammer has served on many educational boards and received awards and accolades for his contributions to the chemistry field, including the Alan Berman Research Publication Award in 1987. A t a young age, J. George Harris thought he wanted to become a doctor, having always heard stories about his grandfather being a wonderful small-town physician. He went to Duke University, where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts in math, and decided that becoming a doctor was not for him. However, loving the health care field, he decided to go a different route and began his career with the American Hospital Supply Corporation, working his way up the ranks to become executive vice president. With the experience he garnered throughout his career, he subsequently became founder, president and chief executive officer of Pinnacle Care Corporation, which remained in operation from 1985 until 1994. He soon became the chief operating officer of Mariner Health Group and held that role until his retirement. In addition to his career, Mr. Harris has traveled to many countries around the world in connection with his work. He has served on several boards and is a past member of the Scientific Apparatus Manufacturers Association. Mr. Harris attributes his success to being fortunate enough to have many opportunities for growth throughout his career. Charles F.
