As a child Mr. Levy became very interested in law and had the desire to do something important to help people, be creative and use his intellect. As a high school student, he attended a Dallas magnet school, where he was enrolled in an advanced social science program. By senior year, he had the opportunity to work with a well-known executive attorney in Dallas who helped to ignite his passion and aided him in pursuing the legal field. In preparation for his career, he earned a Bachelor of Arts in political science and economics from Yale University in 1981 and a Juris Doctor from the University of Texas in 1986. With a specialization in business bankruptcy law, Mr. Levy began his legal career as an associate for Atkin, Gimp, Strauss, Hauer & Feld in 1986. From 1992 to 1999 he served as a senior associate for Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher before becoming a shareholder at Gerald, Singer & Levick in 1999. Advancing and making headway in his career, he made partner at Block Garden & McNeil, formerly known as Block & Garden LLP, in 2011 before becoming a shareholder for I. Richard Levy PC. Aside from his legal career, he has delved into education, serving as a freshman counselor at Timothy Dwight College from 1980 to 1981, a writing instructor, and a teaching quizmaster in legal research at the University of Texas at Austin from 1985 to 1986.
