286 MILLENNIUM G erard E. Munera has served 20 years as executive chairman of Arcadia, Inc., a manufacturer of curtain walls and store fronts, and managing director of Synergex, Inc., an investment company. Mr. Munera was recently elected chairman of ISign International, an internet security company. He began his career in 1959 as chief county engineer for the South Algeria department of infrastructure and, in 1962, took on a position in Buenos Aires, Argentina, as a consultant for the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He joined the Pechinery Group in 1966, first as chief executive officer of their Argentine subsidiary Camea, then CEO of Howmet Aluminum in Greenwich, Connecticut, eventually becoming group vice president of nuclear fuels and electrothermic industries in Paris, France. In 1986, he became the CEO of Union Miniere, the Belgian mining company, based in Brussels, and subsequently worked as senior vice president of corporate planning at RTZ PLC in London, CEO of Minorco USA in Denver, Colorado, and chairman and CEO of Latin American Gold in Greenwich, Connecticut. Additionally, Mr. Munera has served on the board of directors of several public corporations, including Nevsun Resources from 1997 to 2017, and chairman of Dynamic Materials Corporation, a position he has held since 2013. He served with the French Air Force for one year. He has been awarded the Cross of Officer of the French Legion of Honor and the Veteran Medal.
