212 MILLENNIUM K ay L. Johannes is a former insurance company executive with immense experience and knowledge. Before beginning her career helping people acquire the necessary coverage, she utilized her educational background to become an audiovisual technician for Nicolet High School from 1972 to 1975. She continued working in the creative arts as a visual designer and animator for Pohlman Studios, a designer of multimedia for AV Centrum AB in Stockholm, and an audiovisual producer for Photography Unlimited. From 1980 to 1982, she was the sole proprietor and producer of her own company, Johannes. Though well-versed in visual arts, Ms. Johannes found her calling in the insurance field. She became a senior salestrack specialist for the Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company, serving in that capacity from 1987 until her retirement in 2012. Outside of her career in insurance, she was chair of the visual communications advisory board of Milwaukee Area Technical College from 1990 to 2005, and has been the owner of Wisconsin Off Road Adventures since 2005. She was a volunteer for Big Brothers Big Sisters of America from 1978 to 1991, and a volunteer docent for the John Michael Kohler Arts Center, where she currently lends her services. To prepare for her successful career, Ms. Johannes earned an Associate of Applied Science in visual communications from Milwaukee Area Technical College in 1972 and a Bachelor of Science in instructional technology from the Rochester Institute of Technology in 1977. She is a member of the Order of Amaranth, the Order of the White Shrine of Jerusalem and American Mensa. Ms. Johannes has been featured in Who’s Who in Finance and Business, Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in the World and Who’s Who of American Women. Kay L.
