429 A Marquis Who's Who Magazine A efore retiring as the director of United Methodist studies at Lancaster Theological Seminary in 2014, Charles Yrigoyen utilized his knowledge of theology to aide those in learning about the church and a higher power. In 1958, Dr. Yrigoyen spread the word of the Lord as a pastor for various churches in Pennsylvania. During his eight year tenure in that position, he transitioned to campus minister of Methodist Church. From 1968 to 1982, he served as chaplain and professor of religion at Albright College. He continued to aid the church as a general secretary and on the general committee on archives and history at United Methodist Church in Madison, New Jersey. In addition to his career, Dr. Yrigoyen has also served as a visiting scholar of the Union Theological Seminary, adjunct professor of church history at Drew University and adjunct professor at Moravian Theological Seminary. He has utilized his knowledge and experience to write many religious books, including “Belief Matters: United Methodism's Doctrinal Standards,” “John Wesley: Holiness of Heart and Life” and “Acts for Our Time.” He has also served as an editor for various books written about religion and the church. He remains a member of the World Methodist History Society, serving as general secretary from 1987 to 2006, the Wesley History Society, the Charles Wesley Society, the Oxford Institute of Methodist Theological Studies, the Mercersburg Society, serving on the board of directors, and the United Methodist History Society, serving as its treasurer. Dr. Yrigoyen earned a Bachelor of Science in economics from the University of Pennsylvania in 1959, a Bachelor of Divinity from Lancaster Theological Seminary in 1962, a Master of Theology from Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1964, and a Ph.D. from Temple University in 1973.
