254 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine HEALTH AND WELLNESS Retired since 2019, Dr. Leslie Ray Matthews served the Morehouse School of Medicine in Atlanta. First hired as an assistant professor of clinical surgery and director of trauma and surgical critical care in 2007, he was promoted to associate professor in 2014 and full professor in 2018. Concurrently, Dr. Matthews served Grady Health System as co-director of the surgical intensive care unit from 2017 to 2019. Earlier, he served the Mayo Clinic as senior associate consultant. Dr. Matthews holds an MD from the University of Mississippi and is certified in advanced trauma life support, advanced cardiac life support and pediatric advanced life support. He also holds a provisional patent for coronavirus treatment using high-dose vitamin D and has investigated the effects of vitamin D therapy on the critically ill. For his work, he has lectured across the globe, spoken before the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) six times, and was the first to speak on vitamin supplements for the FDA. In 2021, he treated the first patient to survive a traumatic brain stem injury using high-dose vitamin D. He was awarded a patent for the treatment of concussions and traumatic brain injuries using high-dose vitamin D in 2019. Drawing upon his natural love for humankind, he always takes time to listen to each of his patients’ concerns to maintain sincerity and quality of service. Most of his business is based upon client referrals, owing to the reputation he has built. He credits much of his success to the strong support system he has cultivated among family, friends and church brethren. Earlier in his career, Dr. McCabe served Miracle-Ear for seven years, introducing him to the industry and instilling in him the foundational knowledge he has today. Notably, he considers himself to be a one-of-a-kind hearing artist. Dr. McCabe is also an ordained minister and chaplain and distributes copies of the book, “Letters from God,” authored by Ivan Tait. In light of his esteemed religious servitude, he was bestowed with an honorary PhD from the Canadian International Chaplaincy Association International University and Seminary.
