He notes that he has always been an overachiever, having told himself since his youth that he can accomplish anything to which he sets his mind. As a testament to his success, Mr. Escobar was presented with the Commercial Design Montreal Award from KYOZON by AEA in 2015. Among his many career achievements, however, he is especially proud of relocating from Colombia to Canada to establish his own company in 1989, as well as sustaining the growth of his business to serve as the prominent example it is recognized as today. Married to his wife Anabela for many years, Mr. Escobar is the proud father of two sons, Josh and Cory. He is also the doting grandfather of one grandson. Looking forward, he intends to witness the continued growth and success of his career. Andres Escobar’s excellence in the field of design has stemmed from the influence of his parents from a formative age. Notably, his paternal family have been composed of highprofile professionals, while his maternal family were involved in horticulture and often took park in horticulture competitions. Mr. Escobar initially desired to enter the field of engineering. However, after some undergraduate studies, he decided that his skill set did not complement the discipline and, therefore, shifted to design. Mr. Escobar’s creativity and love for design perfectly emulated the amalgamation of his parents’ backgrounds: structure from his father and the freedom to create from his mother. Commencing his career in 1989, Mr. Escobar served as principal of the eponymously named Andres Escobar & Associates until 2015. Since 2015, he has excelled as partner and principal designer of Lemay + Escobar Architecture, DPC in New York City.
