136 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine EDUCATION Accruing over five decades of professional experience, Dr. Carolyn Duncan Cecil has cultivated a career of excellence in the fields of public education, Christian education and Christian ministry. Specializing in world geography and Christian subjects, she has operated as an educator and author at Carolyn Cecil Ministries. Additionally, she has served as a member of the Holy Spirit Conferences, started by members of the Church of the Brethren, since 1980 and as a board member of the Holy Spirit International Ministries Inc. As part of her journey, Dr. Cecil pursued a formal education, earning a Bachelor of Science in history and social science at James Madison University in 1968. She also achieved a DMin at the Kingsbury Bible College in 2019, where she continues to serve as a committee member. Dr. Cecil has authored numerous books, including seven children’s books, two books for teenagers and three curriculum texts to train Lay Ministers: “Equipped - Equipping and Empowerment for Christians and Lay Ministers.” Attributing much of her success to her faith, Dr. Cecil hopes to continue writing and marketing her books, reaching the poor nations with the gospel and spreading positivity through her ministry. Cervantes served the school system for an impressive 31 years in several roles. During his tenure, he was a teacher of Spanish as a second language for the Gifted and Talented Education Program, an elementary school educator and a chairman. To this end, he helped the school system develop its bilingual and bicultural programs. Currently, he sits on the planning task force of the school district, as well as serves as the vice president of the El Rancho Federation of Teachers. Earlier in his career, Mr. Cervantes was a teacher at Valle Lindo School District, where he taught third and fifth grade students and was a bilingual teacher. Holding a BA in English and an MEd from California State College, Mr. Cervantes also earned an MA in Chicano studies from California State University, Los Angeles. In light of his exceptional undertakings, he received the San Gabriel Mission High School Alumni Recognition Award in 2019. He has also earned numerous grants in the field.
