Ms. Costello holds an associate degree from the University of Colorado at Denver. She maintains civic affiliation with the Pikes Peak Kiddie Dress Up Venue, for which she served as chairwoman. Additionally, she is a member of NFIB, the Pikes Peak Arts Council, Pheasants Forever and the Better Business Bureau. As a testament to her resounding success in the field, she received the Pikes Peak Area Youth Recognition Award. Additionally, she was the recipient of the ABE Award from the Art and Business Consortium of Colorado Springs, Colorado, in 2015 and 2016. Looking toward the future, Ms. Costello intends to witness the continued expansion of her career. She lives and works by her motto, “Effort never dies.” Outside of her work, she enjoys attending church, reading and creating. As an acclaimed framer and executive for over 20 years, Karen Kim Costello has served as a managing partner of Academy Art & Frame Company since 2007. She first joined the company in 2005 as general manager, remaining in that position for two years. Ms. Costello’s interest in the field was born at a formative age, having worked at a retail store during high school. Before joining Academy Art & Frame Company, she served as a frame designer at Art Hardware between 2004 and 2005. Outside of her managerial duties, Ms. Costello has also excelled as the artist and owner of Feather Fantasia since 1972, drawing upon her artistic roots. As the owner of Feather Fantasia, she creates pictures out of feathers, ranging from small pieces of art to larger, more robust pieces. Among her myriad of career achievements, she is incredibly proud to have been named among the top five feather artists in the world. She attributes much of her success to her faith in God, who has been her primary inspiration and source of strength.
