134 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine EDUCATION With several decades of experience to his credit, Dr. Ameen Abdur-Rashied is a proven expert in the field of education, specializing in music education. Since 2019, he has served as the band director and teacher at Peeples Middle School in Jackson, Mississippi, part of the Jackson Public School System. He originally began his career as an educator in 1988, working as a music instructor at Alcorn State University until 1994. Adjacent to his endeavors as a teacher, Dr. Abdur-Rashied is also an accomplished professional musician, having toured in Canada, Finland, Norway and Sweden. Prior to embarking on his vocational journey, Dr. Abdur-Rashied pursued his own formal education at Jackson State University, where he earned several degrees, including a Doctor of Education. As part of his dedication to his profession, he remains affiliated with the Music Educators National Conference. Attributing much of his success to his training and the support and encouragement of his family, Dr. AbdurRashied hopes to publish children’s books in the coming years, in addition to continuing his food sanctuary. Millennium Magazine Featured Listee BAND DIRECTOR, TEACHER Peeples Middle School Jackson, MS Sheena Alaiasa is a rising expert in the field of education. Since 2018, she has operated as the director of the Pacific Heritage Academy in Salt Lake City, Utah. Specializing in educational technology and instructional design, she oversees the school’s academic curriculum and participates in family activities and grant writing. Having begun her career in 2004, Ms. Alaiasa previously served as the principal of several schools in Kaneohe and Honolulu, Hawaii, including Heeia Elementary School, S.W. King Intermediate School, James B. Castle High School and the Kamehameha Schools. As part of her vocational journey, Ms. Alaiasa cultivated her own education, earning a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and teaching at Brigham Young University and a master’s degree in educational leadership and administration at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. To commemorate her accomplishments in the field, she was recognized as Hawaii Principal of the Year in 2012 and National Principal of the Year in 2013. In the coming years, Ms. Alaiasa hopes to complete her PhD program and establish schools around the nation that acknowledge students’ heritage and place of origin.
