69 Millennium - Twenty-third Edition BUSINESS, FINANCE AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP As a testament to her distinguished impact on her community, Mrs. May was honored with the Service Appreciation Award from Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in 2020, the Living Legend Award from the Blue Triangle MultiCultural Association in 2017, the Legacy and Leadership Award from Holman Street Baptist Church in 2015 and the Woman of Faith Award from Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in 2010. Looking toward the future, Mrs. May aims to establish a consulting firm to further assist members of her community, with a particular focus on health insurance products for seniors. In this regard, she would like to offer clear and compassionate support to seniors navigating the transition to specialized insurance plans. As she develops this firm, she would like to refine the scope of advocacy services that she offers, ensuring that her guidance is targeted, effective and supportive for the seniors who need it most. where she led the women’s ministry. Under her leadership, the ministry sponsored several community initiatives, including back-to-school backpack and food drives, children’s giveaways, and holiday programs to support the children of incarcerated parents or guardians. Mrs. May’s ministry partnered annually with Project Angel Tree, adopting approximately 100 individuals and their families to provide gifts and prayers, which had a profound impact on the community. Additionally, after a devastating earthquake in Haiti, she organized efforts to send supplies to disaster recovery groups by successfully raising $10,000 to aid with the recovery efforts. Mrs. May has continued her selfless work at her current church, Lilly Grove Missionary Baptist Church, in Houston, where she is involved in similar outreach initiatives to support families in need, as well as her sorority, Alpha Kappa Alpha, which aims to enhance the lives of others through initiatives that fortify the family.
